Community benefits will vary by project, but commonly address several key areas.

 

Community Investment

Projects may include community benefit funds, public-space improvements, education and workforce initiatives, technology access or other locally identified priorities.

Infrastructure

We believe infrastructure impacts should be identified early and addressed as part of the development process.
Depending on the project, that may include roads, intersections, utilities, water, sewer, stormwater and other improvements directly related to development.

Public Safety

We work with local fire, EMS and emergency-management teams to address facility-specific planning, training, access and equipment needs before operations begin.

Jobs and Local Opportunity

Community benefits may include local hiring, contractor and vendor participation, apprenticeships, workforce training and partnerships with schools and technical programs.

We believe communities deserve a clear picture of both construction opportunities and permanent employment.

Environmental and Neighborhood Protection

Depending on the project, commitments may address water use, noise, buffers and landscaping, lighting, construction traffic, stormwater, generator operations and energy efficiency.

The appropriate protections should reflect the actual site and surrounding community.

Long-Term Accountability

Meaningful commitments should not end when approvals are granted.
Community benefit provisions can be incorporated into development agreements, host agreements, land-use approvals or other enforceable project documents, with appropriate reporting and accountability.
